Being at home is without a doubt sublime.

Organizing, throwing stuff out and finding treasures that were forgotten. I found my grade school class pictures and plan to put them in cool frames I found on sale a year ago but never got around to filling. Taking care of the things that deserve to be taken care of.

Oooooooooooo it's flyer day!

So apparently I've gone too far already. Dinner took two days to make. Slow cooker pork shoulder for pulled pork sandwiches. I did my usual journey through dozens of recipes and concluded the meat would take 6 hours to cook. Wrong. It took 12 hours. Dinner was ready at 10pm. Everyone had done their own dinner by then - yes the dreaded KD was on the menu. The upside - I didn't have to cook dinner the next day and was able to watch Olympics uninterrupted most of the day!

Am I Famous Yet?

I don't profess to be perfect, articulate, intelligent or organized.

I find myself without a job. I am not alone, many of my friends are in the same boat. Every one of us has one thing in common - saving money. Living off of pizza and food courts is out. Time to get serious about the whole food thing. I have always loved to cook. I own dozens of cookbooks have favourited tons of recipe websites and use them when I want to produce amazing feasts. The rest of the time I relied on frozen meals, the telephone to order dinner and kraft dinner.

So now that I'm at home there are no more excuses. No one feels sorry for me. (I miss those days) It's up to me.

Schnell food how I loved thee. No more schnell food.
